For the best answers, search on this site If it is a closed-hole C foot flute, and you used this as a student, then it is more than likely silver-plated, not solid silver.

Not matter what you paid for it, it is now worth about $40 - $50. I have purchased a few of these for kids with limited funds, and never ever pay over about $60 - if they are in great condition and need NO work.

Added - chances are, this has a plated head - you can tell by looking at the tenon - then end that goes into the flute. If it looks yellow/brass - then it is plated. If you cannot tell my looking - well, all-silver parts must be stamped SS, 925, or Sterling - something like that - that indicates metal content.

Last test - hold the headjoint lightly by the very top cap, letting it dangle. Gently *twang* or tap the tenon end. If you get a nice ring - it is plated. If it goes THUNK - it is solid silver. Added2 - Apparently, I have attracted another Hater Troll, who is following me to every question I answer, and giving me a TD.
