What did you pay for that!?! And where did you get it????? The year is 2006 now u know. I don't remember, it is not USB but uses the game port. Again, where the hell did you get and and what did you pay for it? I hope it lasts cause the pots sucks. You want to know how to set it up?

Read the manual. That stick needs drivers.
Install those. Then you need another manual teaching you how to program the stick. You are funny. I know you asked for help but that help should be in the box the stick came in. And Thrustmaster I think have been baught and support is now at Guillemot or if it is the other way. Price is important, you should not have payed more than $50 for that stick.
I worn out two F16 FLCS TQS plus one HOTAS Cougar in the less time than it took to wear down my first Saitek X36. Then I used the X45 for some time but don't think the design was right but the damn stick holds together but I don't know for how long. I seems to me, CH Fighter Stick people are very silent and I interpret that as a bunch of people having nothing to complain about.
So that is the company that gets my money next time. TM don't know what 'repeated business' means. Still facinating, where did you get it and what did you pay for it The Smiths The Queen Is Dead Zip. ????? I know I am of no help. Forgive me for that.
This is Handon_Guild (the original poster). Maj_Solo, I bought the FLCS and TQS used, and paid 250 kroner, which equals $42.29, so it wasn't overpriced. Now, you say that I should follow the instructions and so on, but it's not that simple, as the joystick is designed for Win95/98 - these days we run on XP, you know.
I just found fragments of procedures for using the equipment with XP on these forums, but nothing complete, and that is why I hoped that someone had the sticks themselves, and had used them with XP - and if someone does, please, share your experiences with me:-). I spent some short time searching for info and in my opinion you are going to have more trouble than it is worth. I understand if the stick was on sale. I can not explain in detail how it is done, to do that I woul like to have done it myself. The main problem is the thrustmaster programming software is not allowed to talk to the stick if it is an original stick with original drivers, Windows XP forbids it. In XP the stick gets sorted under devices WIndows 'owns' and Windows want no traffic going out to the stick. Seems to be 3 paths around this and they are all going to cost you, either a lot of time, or a lot of hasle, or money.
1) Upgrade your stick with Bob Churches chips and use his driver and everything is now fine. 2) Use a Win98 rescue floppy and boot your machine on that and and while running Win98 you can program the stick. If the programming software needs the Windows Graphical User Interface. Then I can not see how that would fit on a floppy so you will have to create a Windows resque CD instead and run from that. 3) Next alternative is using virtual machines using software like WMware and boot one Win98 and one WinXP. I have not used this and don't know the performance penalty to your system.
Seem like the easiest is a stick upgrade if you can get assured and get gurrantees from the vendor it will work on Windows XP. If you get the upgrade you get new chips and new pots and the stick will be much better than what it might have been when it was new from thrustmaster. They say Bob makes good stuff. So good luck. (Sweden won the yesterdays soccer match, yes!!!!). A couple of quick notes: the stickworks chips are discontinued (and have been for almost two years, afaik) and you can't program the old thrustmaster gear from virtual machines (be it virtual pc, vmware or dosbox).
The only other way to make the gear fully functional under windows xp (at least that i know of) is to strip out the electronics and connect the pots, buttons and switches to something like the plasma2, made by (or something cheaper, preferably:P). It works ok, and an upside that it has input filtering (that means no spiking ). The downside is that you don't really have any good programming software for it; the betainnovations keyboard studio can't program any hats and analog axis and joytokey is also somewhat limited (and i'm not aware of any other 3rd party software). I just dug out my FLCS/TQS/TM Rudders combo and have similar questions about using it with WinXP. Is there any way/place to get the stickworks chips at all?? I wish I would have looked into this a couple of years ago when they were still available!
There had to have been prototypes while it was being tested, which would mean they could be made in limited quantities again without much hassle (if the raw chips are still on the market). As I understand it, you can use a DOS boot floppy with the updated TM software to download keyboard configurations to the sticks. Does this work with the computers coming out these last few years? Or would an old $50 B/W 486 notebook be needed to do this? Once a configuration file is downloaded you can use them as a regular joystick/throttle combination (XP even has a joystick profile for them) IF you have a joystick port on your computer. Support for them as keyboards and the TQS mouse should be pretty transparent too.
Has anyone tried this? But what I was thinking of doing (since I don't plan on changing the FLCS/TQS config that often, what with most flight sims having remapable commands) is using a joystick to USB converter AND a keyboard/mouse USB converter. This should allow it to operate a single joystick without any port speed flakyness AND XP can use multiple mouses and keyboards (heck I might be able to use my Saitek PC Dash as well!). Has anyone tried this, as it would look to the PC as if the joystick was all digital?
My FLCS/TQS are in almost mint shape (I did the various quality updates TM put out at the time), I'd hate to have to trash them and spend ANOTHER $250 for the Cougar (which I just can't afford right now)!! Thanks, James.
(This content used to live on and is somewhat out of date. I've recently been informed that Thrustmaster tech support still refers customers to this site (! Hp Smart Update Manager Iso Burner. ) so I have transferred it over.) Do you own (or are you thinking of buying) old Thrustmaster flight controls, but are wondering how to use them with Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7? Have you been told that they're old pieces of junk that don't work with today's operating systems, but you don't quite believe it?
If so, then you've come to the right place. Here you'll find lots of information and resources to get your old Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS, F-22 Pro, WCS Mk II, and F-16 TQS (along with your rudder pedals), working with Windows XP and Windows Vista/7. Though this is a work in progress, you should be able to find some useful things here immediately. Needless to say, you can indeed use any of these previously mentioned joysticks and throttles with your modern computer, and use them in pretty much any flightsim in Windows.. There are several hurdles you'll need to overcome, but none of them is that high. Some are hardware hurdles.
Some are software hurdles. Some are procedural and knowledge hurdles. Fortunately, all the software and knowledge you need is freely downloadable on the Internet, plus I'm providing some knowledge (and some downloadable files, where appropriate or necessary) too. You probably already have the required hardware, and even if you don't, odds are it's cheaper than buying a new stick and supporting hardware. Note: The BOT (Book of Thrustmaster) does not cover how to write programs for your Thrustmaster equipment. I'll point you to tools that make this easier in Windows, and just plain possible in DOS, and I'll even point you to documentation and tutorials that tell you how to write it, but I won't be teaching you the programming 'language' or answering questions about it. I'm just too busy with other stuff, and this information is widely available online elsewhere.
No, a modern USB-powered joystick is definitely an easier way to go, but in my humble experience, most modern USB sticks feel like cheap plastic toys (I'm looking at you, Saitek, CH Products, and Logitech), even if some of them work okay. And the only professional-grade alternative stuff is horrendously expensive, and so trouble-prone (even right out of the box) that you need to replace many of internal components with horrendously expensive upgraded components (I'm looking at you, Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS).
