Abstract: In this article, a wet chemical method was developed to prepare stable ZnO nanofluids. The influences of synthesis parameters, such as EG/water ratio, timing and quantity of NaOH addition, were studied.

The thermal conductivity of the ZnO nanofluids was investigated. The results showed that synthesis parameters had significant impacts on the dispersibility and size of ZnO nanoparticles. The thermal conductivities of ZnO nanofluids increased with the increase of particle loading. The enhancement was 11% for 1.1vol% ZnO nanofluid. The effective thermal conductivities of the ZnO nanofluids can not be predicted by the present models.
